WHAT ARE HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS/DESIGNATED SUBSTANCES?
Defined in Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act Regulations O.Reg. 490/09, designated substances are a group of eleven chemical agents that are known to be hazardous and can cause significant negative health effects. As such, specific regulations regarding their handling and usage have been developed to minimize exposure and human health and safety concerns.
